Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how the Hilal — Quran Lock mobile app ("Hilal", "the app", "we", "us"), published by Imovia, handles information. It applies to the app on both Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). By using Hilal you agree to this policy.

No account, no personal data

Hilal is designed to be private by default. You do not create an account, you do not sign in, and you do not provide your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifier to use the app. Because we do not collect personal data, we do not build user profiles and we have no user database.

Information processed on your device

To make its features work, Hilal processes the following information locally on your device only. This information never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us or to any third party:

• Reading progress & goals. Your daily reading target, your current position in the Quran, and your reading streak are saved in the app's local storage so you can pick up where you left off.
• Selected apps to lock. The list of apps you choose to block with Quran Lock is stored on your device so the feature knows what to lock.
• Approximate / precise location (optional). If you enable prayer times, your device's location is used to calculate prayer times for your area. The calculation happens on your device; we do not receive or store your location.
• App settings & notification preferences. Your chosen calculation method, reminders, and other preferences are kept locally.

Quran Lock & system permissions

The optional Quran Lock feature relies on system technologies provided by your operating system to detect when a blocked app is opened, so it can show a reminder until you complete your daily reading goal:

• iOS — Screen Time API. Hilal uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls / Managed Settings) framework for privacy-safe app blocking. Apple's design does not expose your specific app usage to us; the app names you select are handled privately by the system on your device.
• Android — Accessibility Service. Hilal uses Android's Accessibility Service solely for the optional Quran Lock feature. When enabled, it detects which app is in the foreground so the app can show a reading reminder when you open a blocked app before completing your goal. This detection is processed entirely on your device and is never collected, stored, or shared. Hilal does not read, log, or transmit screen content.

These permissions are optional. If you do not use Quran Lock, you do not need to grant them, and you can revoke them at any time in your device settings.

We do not collect or share data

• We do not collect personal data on our servers.
• We do not track you across apps or websites.
• We do not sell or rent any data to anyone.
• We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs that identify you.
• There are no ads in the app.

Data retention and deletion

Because no personal data is collected or stored on our servers, there is nothing for us to retain and nothing for us to delete on your behalf. The information described above lives only on your device. You remain in full control of it: you can clear it at any time by deleting the app's data in your device settings or by uninstalling Hilal, which removes all locally stored information.

Children's privacy

Hilal is suitable for a general audience and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children or anyone else, because the app does not collect personal information at all.

Third-party stores

Hilal is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. When you download or update the app, those platforms may process information under their own privacy policies, which are outside our control. Please review Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
